Students in grades 6-8 will engage in activities that include the following areas of Art:
1. Art history (learning about different artists, styles and periods in Art history)
2. Art Criticism (Looking at Art works and evaluating them in regard to design elements and principles, style, technique, etc.)
3. Aesthetics (Understanding and questioning the nature of, the role, the benefit, the need for Art, as well as the qualities art embodies - beauty, creativity, etc.)
4. Art Making (Students will use varied materials and techniques to create their own works of art)
Art projects will expand on knowledge learned in elementary grades and attempt to integrate with other subject areas of the Junior High curriculum.
In addition to art projects worked on in class, Junior High-level students will be responsible for weekly sketchbook assignments. See the google docs homework page for current and past sketchbook assignments.
